Upper Elementary, 3rd-5th Grades

Gina Thomas, Director

3-D is an exciting 3rd grade Sunday School experience on the third floor of the Main Building. During the school year, August through May, using a modified Workshop Rotation format, the children enjoy using their new Bibles in an original Canterbury curriculum – Digging into Scripture; Devoting our lives to Jesus Christ; Becoming His Disciples”.

4th and 5th graders can be found on the third floor of the Main Building enjoying the Worshop Rotation model of learning in the Canterbury KindDOME. Under the guidance of committed adult leaders, children learn the major stories of Scripture in a two-year rotation that includes engaging assembly time, Bible memory work and hands-on activities.

Lower Elementary, K5- 2nd Grade

Amy Knight, Interim Director

Sunday School at Canterbury is AWESOME! We are using a new Sunday School curriculum from Cokesbury this year for our 5K-2nd grade children. The Deep Blue curriculum is an age-appropriate Bible survey that includes an engaging video segment each week, supports our United Methodist beliefs, and introduces a variety of Bible Stories to our children each season. The age level milestones set by our church are also incorporated into the weekly lessons. The milestones, the Deep Blue curriculum, and assembly in Hallelujah Hall make for a fun and successful Sunday School hour at Canterbury!

Preschool, 2K-4K

Amy Knight, Director

Preschool Sunday School begins at age 2 and continues through 4K at Canterbury.

Nursery, 6 weeks- 4 years

Amanda Fuller, Director

Children’s Ministry at Canterbury begins at birth. Nurseries are provided for infants and preschoolers for all regularly scheduled worship services. Nurseries for other activities are provided by contacting Amanda Fuller at 874-1546 or amanda.fuller@canterburyumc.org to make reservations. Canterbury uses a check-in system as part of our Safe Sanctuary Policies. Parents of all children in classes 4K and under are asked to fill out a Check-In information Form. This information will be entered into our system and will speed up the process of getting your child/children to the right class. It will also provide us with information on where you will be in case we need to let you know of an emergency.

PlayCare is a paid drop in service provided by the Nursery staff of Canterbury. PlayCare meets Monday through Thursday mornings from 9-1PM. For more information on PlayCare, click here
